Meet Cali Jardin: Where Coffee, Flowers, and Colombian Soul Come Together
At Cali Jardin, the scent of freshly brewed coffee meets the delicate perfume of native blooms, creating a space that’s both vibrant and grounding. This café-florist hybrid, co-owned by Felipe and Graeme, offers something beautifully unique to the Melbourne café scene - a little greenery, a little culture, and a lot of heart.
From Colombia to Melbourne: A Café with Roots
The idea for Cali Jardin took shape in the mind of Felipe, who grew up in Colombia surrounded by tropical landscapes, flowers, and coffee farms.
“That environment stays with you,” he says. “The colours, the smells - it inspired the way we built this place.”
So What’s the Vibe?
Felipe describes it in two words: “Green and aromatic.” It’s calm, earthy, and full of thoughtful details. Native Australian flowers bring bursts of colour and texture, while the hum of conversation's over coffee makes it feel inviting and alive.
“We want people to feel welcome as soon as they walk in. Whether they’re picking up a coffee or flowers - or staying for a bite to eat - it should feel like a little moment of calm in their day,”
Must-Try Menu Picks
Cali Jardin keeps things simple and satisfying. From their take on a classic scrambled eggs to their signature Cali Sandwich - made with chickpeas and halloumi is a local favourite for good reason. It’s hearty, flavourful, and goes perfectly with one of their expertly crafted coffees.
Coffee is front and centre here, with coffee by Niccolo. Whether you’re into punchy espresso, a classic flat white, or a smooth cold brew, you’ll find something that hits the spot.
The Heart of the Community
One of the things Felipe and Graeme love most is the connection they’ve built with their local community.
“The people here are so friendly,” says Felipe. “It means a lot to be part of someone’s day - even if it’s just for a quick coffee or a bunch of flowers.”
That human connection is what drives everything they do. “Hearing that we’ve brightened someone’s morning or made their day a little better - that’s the most rewarding part.”
A Space That Stands Out
What makes Cali Jardin special is the mix. You won’t find many places where you can enjoy specialty coffee, thoughtful food, and a fresh bunch of native flowers—all in one spot.
And the space is evolving. “We’ve just opened our kitchen, which means more food options are on the way,” says Felipe. “It’s an exciting time.”
Quality Coffee at the Core
For Felipe and Graeme, great coffee isn’t just about taste - it’s about trust.
In Melbourne, coffee is personal. People know what they like, and they expect consistency, "We chose Niccolo because their blend is unique, clean, and dependable - and the team is great to work with.”
Cali Jardin makes it a point to know their customers’ regular orders. “It’s about making the experience feel personal - because it is.”
And while the café offers flat whites and filters, the cold brew is a pleasant surprise for many locals who aren’t used to seeing it on offer.
